A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux

Galactic hero Serena S has been insulted on Spacebook. This is obviously a cause to embark on an epic quest to punish the troll in question, who just happens to be The Space Prince. Guide Serena through 7 stages of shmup action, jumping, shooting, and yet decidedly more jumping and shooting to her ultimate goal of total testicular annihilation of her foe. Ultionus is a love-letter to the home computer arcade games of the late 80s and early 90s, particularly Halloween Harry, Astro Marine Corps, Duke Nukem 2 and especially Phantis/Game Over II. The game features tons of lovingly crafted pixel art, and a rockin' chiptune soundtrack by the legendary Jake 'Virt' Kaufman.

Please note that as of update RC6 the Mac version is no longer supported. I will look into resuming support at a later date, but currently I simply can't afford the licensing and hardware costs.

Played the original release on Desura years ago; finally played the updated version.  My man, thank you for making this game.  It was a fun, solid and relaxing time.  I thought the original intro sprite work and faces looked great as they were, but the redesign also looks nice as well.  The cutscenes between levels was a very nice touch, adding some extra flavor to the simple yet charming story.  Music was absolutely solid.

Will there ever be a follow up?  I wouldn't mind seeing another game featuring Serena and Balzac.

I'd love to make more Serena games in the future, but must pay bills first lol

this game could be really good. but.... its just not yet. i like part of the direction this game is taking. but some of it needs some real work. good luck devs. nice job so far

Did you play the main game or just the demo? If it was the demo - I will need to upgrade that to the newest version at some point, as it only represents the original 2013 release.

yeah i played the demo. have you guys made a bunch of work to the game? i gave an extra 5 on top because i think the art is amazing. maybe you could give me a free link to the updated version. please, thanks

I am not entirely sure what you mean. Are you asking for the updated demo? If so, it might take me a couple of weeks to get that working again.

yes. that would be cool. thanks

Demo has been updated.

Unfortunately the controller support is a bit spotty, especially on non-Windows platforms, and there is very little I can do to help. People who came up with ways of emulating the 360 pad under Linux were able to get their controllers to work, but not being a Linux guy, I wouldn't be able to say how.

I have long been working on an update to the game that may solve this issue, as well as a whole bunch of other ones (60 fps, larger play window, optional 4:3 mode, turbo-speed, better controller support, redefine keys menu, better game balance etc). Hopefully I'll be able to release it sometime soon.

Linux controller woes should be fixed as of RC6 Update!
